Availability of PrEP and PEP
PrEP (or Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) is available in Israel as a preventative measure against HIV.
You can ask your family doctor about it and it is covered by your Kupat Cholim (healthcare provider).
PEP (or Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) is available to reduce the chances of contracting HIV in the event of a potential exposure. It is highly effective if taken within 72 hours of the exposure and is available from the Emergency Room from a number of hospitals across Israel.
